Meet the Author
Joy Jewett
Joy Jewett is a poet, a survivor and a woman who, by her own account, has given away everything, her possessions, her love, her spirit, her heart, and received nothing in return. She writes this not with bitterness but with the plain honesty of someone who has stopped pretending otherwise.
She was twenty when she first fell in love. Twenty-five when that man left the world. Nine years later she married Bill, and they had thirty-six years together before death came, quiet and cruel, and took him. What came after the grief was worse in its own way, the secrets he kept, the money gone, the house gone, the life dismantled.
Joy beat cancer twice. She survived Covid, which left its mark on her heart. She walked runways as a young woman and still considers that part of who she is. She describes herself as a Pisces, mystic and strong, and writes with the conviction of someone who has earned the right to both words.
She wrote Poetry, Chaos of Life across sixty days. She says some of the poems will make you sad, some will make you smile, and some will leave you thinking the author is in pain. She does not disagree with that last part. But she wrote it anyway. That, more than anything else, is who Joy Jewett is.
